Recently, I’ve been noticing my breath when I’m stressed. I find my breathing is shallow as if I’m holding my breath a bit, now allowing myself to breathe deeply, and not allowing myself to fully exhale. We’re not allowing ourselves to fully exhale.
When I’m not breathing well, I tend to be more stressed, not present, not grounded, and not fully in our body. And vice versa - when I’m any of those things, I tend not to be breathing well.
I believe I can breathe in wisdom, whispers, fire, and flow from the planet around me, but to do so, I need to allow myself to breathe more fully.
Here’s a short exercise by PT and psychotherapist Dr. Renee Ostertag called bow and arrow which I regularly use to help me breathe more deeply, and get more present and grounded.
