hands
forever becoming
This image is from the Cueva de las Manos, or ‘Cave of the Hands’, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the Río Pinturas canyon in Patagonia, Argentina. I find it intriguing that this image, or similar, keeps coming up for me in different and divergent streams of my life and connections. On reflecting on what I see / feel in this, I find:
Hands reaching from the earth to the sky, seeking something. Seeking the divine. Seeking connection. Seeking to be seen.
Hands in blood noting how much damage we've caused. How much killing we've done. How much we've hurt other humans, other beings, ourselves, our earth.
Hands reaching out to others, to lend a hand, to receive help, for shared stories, for love.
Hands reaching through the earth to make offering amends, for healing and for hope.
